Your details and property information FAQs

Managing your details

Your valuation reference can be found on any previous rates invoice you have received, either from us or from your city or district council, or by the property search function on our website.

If you cannot find your property using this search, please contact us using the online form

You can update your email address by selecting the 'receive your rates invoices by email' option on our website. Follow the process and the new email that you submit will overwrite the one that we currently hold.

A confirmation email will be sent to the new email address provided.

We use the postal address that you have provided to your city or district council. This means the fastest way to have your postal address updated is to contact your city or district council directly to change your address.

Alternatively you can contact us and we will pass the information on to your local council to update.

The property information we have received from our valuation suppliers may have your property address listed in a different format to what you usually use.

If you have your valuation reference handy we recommend searching using this to search by, as it will return the most accurate results.

If you would like your name and address kept from the rating information database, please request confidentiality via our online form.

You can also download the form and return it to our rates team via post or email.

If you have sold your property and received an invoice in error, or purchased a property and are still waiting for your rates invoice, it may mean your city or district council has not received notification of the change. We get updates of this information from the district or city council who are legally responsible for holding and maintaining these records on our behalf. Please contact your solicitor and ask them to issue the appropriate notification as soon as possible to the city/district council.

If you have sold your property and were paying your rates by direct debit, please contact us to ensure the direct debit is cancelled.

You can contact us using the form on our website, or call us on 0800 BOP RATES (0800 267 728). Please have your valuation number handy.

Your name and address information is part of the rating record obtained under the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002, and is protected under this Act, the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 and the Privacy Act 2020.

We may use your name and address as required by these and other acts administered by the Regional Council.

We would also like to use your name and address to inform you of council activities that may affect you. If you do not wish your name and address to be used by council to inform you of the activities that affect you please contact us. For further information see our privacy statement.

When you submit a request to change your contact information you can opt for this to be shared with your city or district council.
